Contributing to Stadsarchief Rotterdam

We are delighted to announce that today, january 15th we donate to the Stadsarchief Rotterdam.
We are proud to contribute our unique design presentations, with insights into the architectural evolution of the iconic Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek in Rotterdam. These works dated from 1995 until 2005, encapsulate the interior renovation design for the factory building of 1928 and the vibrant history of this landmark. The iconic factory, known for its great architectural, historical and social significance, serves an unparalleled gathering place for visiting guests, events and the local workplace community alike. The historic plant comprises seven more buildings that have been converted by fellow architects from various firms.

The Dutch design studio is responsible for the interior design of the workspaces in the factory building. Renowned for their adeptness in harmonizing functionality with a deep respect for the history and aesthetics of the building, the design team at Claessens Erdmann has been committed to preserving the property's original elements and embracing its distinctive Dutch identity. Simultaneously, they infused a contemporary sense of style into the design, ensuring a seamless blend of tradition and modernity.
Archiving Rotterdam's Rich Heritage
In collaboration WDJArchitects and other partners in the redevelopment team, they have decided to integrate these designs into the Rotterdam City Archives. When combined with the invaluable archive materials from WDJArchitects, a key partner in the redevelopment of the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek, we aim to create a comprehensive record that reflects the fascinating journey of this iconic structure.

Connecting Past and Present
The Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek stands as a testament to Rotterdam's industrial legacy and its remarkable ability to reinvent itself. By adding our design documents to the Stadsarchief Rotterdam's collection, we are actively contributing to connecting the dots between the past and present.
We thank the Stadsarchief Rotterdam for their dedication to preserving the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek's history.
